Shajith Koyeri is one of the most promising sound designers in Indian film industry. He made his mark in the industry with his exceptional talent in sound designing. Shajith Koyeri has worked on over 60 films in total, winning the National and Filmfare Awards for Omkara and the Star Screen Award for Kaminey. He made his debut in Hollywood with DAM999, one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

Shajith was born in Kannur district of Kerala, the southernmost state in India. He was not able to complete his college education due to rheumatoid arthritis. Actually, that became the turning point in his life. At the age of 25, he decided to move to Mumbai with an ambition of making a life of his own. "It was a trip to Mumbai that changed my life. Since I had never stepped out of laidback Thalassery during that first month in Mumbai, I was so flustered that I did not even step out of the house. Gradually, it was as if the energy of the city rubbed off on me. When it was time to go back home, I refused. I could feel it in my bones that Mumbai is where my destiny lay," recalled Shajith in the interview given to The Hindu. Then he joined the fireflys Post Sound Studio, the first exclusive sync sound design studio in the country, where he was trained by national award winner Satheesh PM and learned the art of sound design from first principles. From there Shajith Koyeri went on to specialize in postproduction for sync sound films and sound design.

His first independent work was with the movie, Perfect Husband in 2003. Later he worked for movies like Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black and Saawariya, Shimit Amin's Ab Tak Chappan, Ketan Mehta's Mangal Pandey: The Rising, Rohan Sippy's Bluff Master, Vishal Bharadwaj's Maqbool, The Blue Umbrella, Omkara, and Kaminey.

Shajith Koyeri is best known in the industry for his perfectionism. He never let the realistic ambience lose in order to captivate the audience inside the world which cinema creates. He won accolades from critics and viewers for his magnificent aural artistry, dedication and courage to experiment.

Now he is at the zenith of excitement as his first Hollywood movie, DAM999 is going to hit the box-office this year.
